Banksia Camp is accessible by four-wheel drive only and features 7 camp sites, including a larger site suitable for groups and camper trailers. Banksia Camp also has a shared facility hut featuring four bedrooms and a sheltered common area that is designed to accommodate 12 people comfortably. Banksia Camp can accommodate tents, four-wheel drive campervans and camper trailers. Caravans and larger campervans are not permitted.

There are picnic tables, a toilet and wood barbeques.

CAMPFIRES

Campfires are usually permitted, in the provided fire rings only, between April 15 and November 30 but fire restrictions may be imposed at any time and without notice.

When fire restrictions are in place campfires must not be lit and any appliance powered by burning solid fuel must not be used. Always comply with any instructions at campgrounds and parks.

Campers´ own liquid or gas fuel barbeques, stoves and heaters can be used at any time, unless a total fire ban has been declared (see Department of Fire and Emergency Services).

NO BOOKINGS

Bookings cannot be made. Go to ´Find available sites at other campgrounds´ for the latest information on availability. We cannot give any guarantee of availability of camp sites and we cannot respond to enquiries for specific availability information. Be prepared with an alternative place to stay in case there is no suitable site available.

Park entry fees apply apply to D’Entrecasteaux National Park.

Fishing

Visitors can enjoy fishing from the beaches located near the camp. Mandalay Beach can also be accessed via Mandalay Beach Road which is suitable for two-wheel drive vehicles. Please take great care when fishing from rocks or cliffs. Large waves can suddenly appear and wash over rocks. Check tide predictions and weather warnings with the Bureau of Meteorology. Also follow the safety advice of RecFish West and comply with Department of Fisheries regulations.

Four-wheel driving

Visitors will need a four-wheel drive to access Banksia Camp. From Banksia Camp, visitors can make the journey along Fisherman’s Track to the mouth of the Broke Inlet. Please note that Fisherman’s Track is seasonally closed between June and December due to inundation. Other sites close to Banksia Camp which can be accessed with a four-wheel drive are Cliffy Head and Bottleneck Bay, each offering spectacular views along the rugged coastline of D’Entrecasteaux National Park.
